The Man clan are the descendants of Wen Tianxiang (read as Man Tin-cheong in Cantonese), a civil leader in the later days of the Song Dynasty. After moving to Huizhou in present-day Guangdong with his family, Wen joined the armed resistence against Mongol invasion. After he died for this noble cause, his family moved to settle in present-day Shenzhen.
Wen had no son. He adopted 3 sons from cousins on his father's side. Descendants of the 3 adopted sons settled in present-day Ping Shan, San Tin, and Pun Chung of Tai Po in the New Territories. The clan have spread around the world and produced many distinguished members in the past few centruries.
