Add separately dilute HCl to the two solutions.Sodium thiosulphite solution : The solution turns cloudy slowly due to the formation of sulphur.
S2O32-(aq) + 2H+(aq) → H2O(l) + SO2(g) + S(s)
Sodium sulphite solution : The solution remains clear because no solid is formed.
SO32-(aq) + 2H+(aq) → H2O(l) + SO2(g)
