how do you solve 9x=12x+6?
回答 (8)
9x = 12x + 6
3x = 4x + 2
x = - 2
Answer: x = - 2
Proof:
9(- 2) = 12(- 2) + 6
- 18 = - 24 + 6
- 18 = - 18
9x=12x+6
subtract 9x from both sides, so
0 = 3x+6
so 3x = -6
so x = -2
9x = 12x + 6
9x - 12x = 6
-3x = 6
x = 6/-3
x = -2
9x = 12x + 6 <=> 9x - 12x =6 <=> -3x = 6
=> x = 6/(-3) = -2
I always like to think of these equations like pairing up two different things. First, you pair up your x's, (9x-12x).. And then you solve from there(Divide your leftover 6 by -3..)
Take all the x's to one side:
-3x=6
Then divide by -3 to get x:
x=-2
Hope that helps!
Just use your mind
if 9 x -2= to -18 and 12 x -2 + 6 = -18
