last year Zeb painted his room in three hours. this year Zeb and Tom were able to paint the room together in two hours.

It would take Tom 6 hrs to paint the room by himself, assuming zeb's rate is still the same this year as it was last year.

Zeb can do 1/3 of the job in 1 hr. Therefore he can do 2/3 of the job in 2 hrs. In those same 2 hrs, Tom can do 1/3 of the job. Therefore in 6 hrs, he can do 1 whole job.

Why don't you find the number of hours it would take you to do a simple algebra problem yourself instead of CHEATING!?
