Pros:

Competition in a knowledge-based society like Hong Kong is so high that getting university education is really important.

Nowadays, more and more people have got a university degree. That means you are less likely to compete with them if you're only at secondary school level.

(supply of university graduates increases --> higher competition in job markets --> non-college grads hard to compete)

Cons:

Lots of examples tell us that top successful people are not well-educated before.

Personal qualities, efforts and hard work, experience etc. are also very important to one's success, which might not be learned at college.

You may point out one or two examples for further elaboration, e.g.

Donald Tsang, Chief Executive; or

A university degree reflects one's academic ahievement ony, but the degree holder can be very poor in the job market.
