you (should/ought to/must) be kinder to her if she did not leave you

Because the verb in the first part is (be), so I think it would be more appropriate to use is/am/are/was/were/will be instead.
type 2 conditional:
If you were kinder to her, she would not leave you.
type 3 conditional:
If you had been kinder to her, she would not have left you.
type 2 conditional:
If you were kinder to her, she would not leave you.
type 3 conditional:
If you had been kinder to her, she would not have left you.
