(- y) = 66
(-1) x (-y) = (-1) x 66
y = (- 66)
- y/6 = 11
y = - 11 * 6
y = - 66
Answer: y = - 66
Proof:
- (- 66)/6 = 11
66/6 = 11
11 = 11
-y/6=11
-y=66
y = -66
You are right.
Cheers
to find out y, you need to do the inverse.
-y/6=11
11*6=66
-y=66
but lets substitute that into the equation
-66/6=-11
if obviously doesnt work so you now need to divide buy -1(-y)
-y=66 (/-1)
y=-66
tada!
-y/6= 11
multiply BOTH sides of the equation by 6:
6(-y/6) = 6(11)
-y = 66
multiply BOTH sides of the equation by - 1:
(-1)(-y) = - 1(66)
y = - 66 ANS.
Your answer is correct.
teddy boy
y=-66
u r absolutely right...who is that chap arguing with u ..tell him not to stdy further more if he is having a problem with this simple equation...
-y/6 = 11
-y = 6(11)
-y = 66
y = 66/-1
y = -66
