The surface area of a red-hot steel bar decreases by 5% when it completely cools down. Find the percentage change in its length

the surface area of cooled down steel bar = 95%of the hot one
the length of cooled down steel bar=square root of (95%)of the
hot one.=97%
therefore, the percentage change in length =3%
