The earliest use of a waterbed can be traced back to over 3,000 years ago
when Persians and Egyptians conducted fertility rites on water filled goat

In 1883, a waterbed was devised by a British physician, William Hooper,
who used it to help relieve bed sore pains in his patients. Although he patented the invention, it was actually a market failure because the mattress

The mondern waterbed wasn't created until 1968. Charles Hall, a design
student at San Francisco State University in California, invented the
waterbed. Charles Hall wanted to create the most comfortable chair
in the world. Deriving his idea from bean bags chairs, Hall filled a vinyl
bag with 300 pounds of cornstarch and called this invention ''the Incredible Creeping Chair." Unfortunately, the attempt was a failure.
