3(2x + 5) = 5x + 15
6x + 15 = 5x + 15
6x - 5x = -15 + 15
x = 0

3(2x+5)=5x+15 Use distributive property to solve parenthesis
6x+15=5x+15 When you have the same number on both sides, they cancel out, but let's do it the "regular" way, by subtracting 15 on both sides:

6x+15-15=5x+15-15
6x=5x Again, the only number that can make this true is 0, but the conventional way is to subtract 5x on both sides:

6x-5x=5x-5x

x=0

Since there is no function (plus, minus, divided into, or times) between the 3 and the open parentheses, the implied function is multiplication. So do the math seperately: (" * " means times or multiplication).
3 * 2x = 6X
and
3 * +5 = +15
answer:
6X + 15

3(2x+5)=5x+15
6x+15=5x+15
-5x -5x
x+15=15
0+15=15

X=0

3 times 2x plus 3 times 5 = 5x+15
this would be
6x+5=5x+15
this means that the equation is not equal
the answer equals
x=0
i hope this helps
