I think it means 2 + 2*2 (where * means multiply) but it could mean 2 + 2*x*2 where x is a variable. Sometimes people don't write out the * or "x" (times) symbol. If they meant to say 2*x*2 where x is a variable, they should have written in the "*" to be clear that they mean multiply.

So I agree with the others and take it to mean 2 + 2*2 which is of course 2 + 4 which is 6.

x comes before +
2 + 4 = 6

2 + 2 x 2
= 2 + 4
= 6

The multiplication takes priority over the addition here.
So the answer is 6.

So...
2+2*2
2+4
=6

2+ 4
= 6

look when people say its 8
they're wrong
because they are doing 2 + 2
then 4 x 2
so that's wrong because that's not in the order oh the Pedmas
