海上保安廳 (Japan Coast Guard) is an organisation that belong to Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.



THe Size of the Japan Coast Guard is about 12,000 servicemen and women. It is roughtly the same size of USCG and 2 time bigger than HK maritime police.



The JCG correspondent HK organisation is HK Water Police



The main goal for JCG is to perform escort duty to important vessel, rescue and intercept of suspect vessel that inside Japanese Sea Border, outside Japanese Sea border will be patrolled by JMSDF.



Ther are only 2 way to get in JCG, they are Japanese Coast Guard Academy and Coast Guard School. They both take on people from 18-49 where the Coast Guard Academy are responsible to train Officer in Japan Coast Guard School train sailor of the Japan Coast Guard. You need to be 18, of Japanese Decent and did not have any Criminal Record in your home country to enrol into Japan Coast Guard.
