英文的文法每一句只有一個動詞 （verb）。

如一句句子中需要兩個動詞，按句式情況而處理，可能的方法：
1. 其中一個動詞改為 Gerund 或 infinitive.
例：
Stop shouting please!（shout 以 shouting - Gerund 形式出現）
Don‘t forget to switch off the light.（switch 以 to switch 的 infinitive 形式出現 ）

2. 子，將句子分為兩部份「主句」+「子句」。主句和子句名有動詞 （vern）。

「主句」指 Main sentence
「子句」指 clause
“that”是一個常用於連接主句和子句的字。所以當用“that”這個字的時候，句子的「主句部份」有“verb”而句子的「子句部份」也有“verb”。

例：
Pulley is a small device that makes our work easier.
這句子中 “Pulley is a small device”是主句
“that makes our work easier”是子句

但請留意，有些時“that”這個字可以在句子中省卻。
