x/12-x/6 =6-3
(x-2x) / 12 = 3
-x/12=3
x=-36
3 - x/6 = 6 - x/12
x/12 - x/6 = 6 - 3
x/12 - 2x/12 = 3
-x/12 = 3
-x = 36
x = 36/-1
x = -36
3 - x/6 = 6 - x/12
3 --- x --- 6 ----x (--- used for separation)
--- - --- = ---- - ----
1 ----6 ---1 ---12 (--- used for separation)
We will write equivalent fractions with common denominator
3.12 -- 2.x ---12. 6 --- x
------- - ----- = -------- - ----
12 -----12 ---12 -------12
Since the denominators are same on both sides of '=' we can cancel them and we get
36 - 2x = 72 - x
Add 'x' on both sides
and
Subtract 36 from both sides
-2x + x = 72 - 36
-x = 36
multiply both sides by -1
x = -36
As this is the second question you've posted...
Why don't you try to take the variable terms (x/6, x/12) and move them to one side of the equation and take the non-variable terms (3, 6) and put them on the other side. Then you should be able to simplify and you'll get some sort of answer.
Post what you've done and I'm sure someone will be happy to show you where you took a wrong turn.
I would multiply everything by 12 to get rid of both terms on the bottom first.
giving you.
36 - 2x = 72 - x
add the 2x over
36 = 72 + x
x = -36
X 12
36 - 2x = 72 - x
x = -36
x = - 36
3 - x/6 = 3 - 2x/12, since x/6 = 2x / 12, and now the denominators are the same ....
so 3 - 2x/12 = 6 - x/12
collect the integers 3, 6 to one side, and the fractions to the other...[ collect like terms...] ...
3 - 6 = - x/12 + (2x/12)
-3 = x/12
multiply by 12.... - 36 = x
