English is an international language required for our
knowledge-based(知識型)economy. By no means(一點也不) will I
deny(否認) learning English is important to us, school students.
Just learning English in classroom is, however, not adequate
and efficient. How can we raise our enthusiasm(提起興趣) in learning
English? I have several suggestions.


First, choosing a story book suitable for your level is a basic premise(前提).
This keeps you reading from time to time without painstaking(刻苦的)
effort – finding words from your dictionary.

Second, the story must be interested enough for you to keep reading and
you won’t feel bored. If not, you will take a nap(打盹兒)after you read a
few pages. The worst result is you will give up eventually if this is a boring
book.

Finally, reading a story book doesn’t mean you are doing your homework.
If you write down meaning of some difficult words and try to learn them,
what will occur to you is you will lose you interest at last. Guessing the
meaning of the word is of paramount important steps(非常重要) when you
want to speed up your reading speed and improve your reading skill.

If you can fulfill those points, I am sure you will keep reading always and
find interest from reading English books.
