If this is a new addition, then the provision for doubtful debt will appear in the profit and loss account as an expense. Dr. Doubtful Debts $1000
Cr. Provision for Doubtful Debts $1000
The presentation in the Balance Sheet will be Trade Debtors $(157000 - 1000) = $156000
