which of the following statements concerning temperature is/are correct?
(1)Temperature is a scalar quantity
(2)Temperature is a measure of the total kinetic energy of the molecules making up the body.
(3)Temperature is the property of a body that controls the direction of heat flow when it is put into contact with another body.
A(1)only
B(2)only
C(1),(2)only
D(1),(2),(3)
The ans is D
是否本書出錯題? 我覺得答案只是1和2
因為temperature is a measure of average ke, not total ke
更新1:

sorry 打錯 應該係"我覺得答案只是1和3

回答 (2)

✔ 最佳答案
actually,
average KE= (total KE)/(amount of matter)

simlilarly,
average speed=(total distance)/(time)

(3) correct.
Heat is defined as the thermal energy transferrd due to temperature difference of two bodies.
So the direction of heat flow depends on temperature.

you are correct for: temperature is a measure of avg KE
but temperature is also responsible for deciding the direction of heat flow

another example:
density is the measure of amount ot matter per unit volume
desity is a property that decide the buoyancy

two is correct
you said temperature is the measure of average KE
however if you don't measure the total KE, how can you deduce the avg KE?

it's a problem about statistics
any change in the total value/mean value would in turn change another one
i.e. mean value and total value are interrelated

please don't stick to the wordings, tune you mind about maths

第3應該係解
如果呢舊野(a)放左係舊比佢熱d既野(b)到
能量就會由(b)去(a)喇
但如果(a)放係舊比佢凍d既野(c)到
能量就會由(a)去(c)喇

所以就係control the direction of heat flow

你話temperature is a measure of average ke, not total ke
點解你又會覺得2岩??
可能係我理解錯..
