if you have the same base, then you add teh exponents
so its a^5

like (2^3)*(2^2)=2^5
(8)(4)=32

Rule
a^m x a^n = a^(m + n)

a² x a³ = a ^ 5

a² . a³ = a^(2 + 3)

= a^5

since a^2 = a*a
and a^3 = a*a*a

it is (a*a)*(a*a*a) = a^5

when the base is the same and you are multiplying, the exponents are added

(subtracted for division)

hi!

we have this law:
since a^2 and a^3 have the same bases,
its simplified term is:
a^5 --> because u just need to add the exponents

i hope this helps

a^2 x a^3
= a^(2 + 3)
= a^5

a^2 x a^3 = a^5
because you have to add two numbers when you have multiply this kind of problems

a^5

a^5 is a way to express "a" raised to the 5th power. 5 is the exponent. In a message such as this on Yahoo you can't express the exponent the same way you would see it in a book.

A squared would be A^2
B cubed would be B^3
