I am stuck again and I have gotten better explanations here than even my math book and class gives me. Thank you all so much:)

6y - 48 = y + 32
5y = 80
y = 16

multiply both sides by 8 to clear fractions:

6y - 48 = y + 32

subtract 1y and add 48 to both sides

5y = 80

divide both sides by 5:

y = 16

that's it!

3y/4 - 6 = y/8 + 4
3y/4 - y/8 = 4 + 6
6y/8 - y/8 = 10
5/8y = 10
y = 16

Answer: y = 16

Proof:
(3 * 16)/4 - 6 = 16/8 + 4
48/4 - 6 = 2 + 4
12 - 6 = 6
6 = 6

3y/4 - 6 = y/8 + 4
3y/4 - y/8 = 6 + 4
6y/8 - y/8 = 10
5y/8 = 10
5y = 80
y = 80/5
y = 16

3y/4 - 6= y/8 + 4
3y/4 -y/8 = 4 + 6

6y/8 - y/8 =10
5y/8 =10
5y =10 x 8
5y = 80
y = 80/5
y= 16

discover a style that each and every of the denominators flow into (2, 3 and six all flow into 6) so multiply each and every little thing with the help of 6: 6(x)/3 - 6(x)/6 - 6(4) = 6(a million)/2 Now simplify the fractions: 2(x) - a million(x) - 6(4) = 3(a million) strengthen the brackets: 2x - x - 24 = 3 combine the like words: x - 24 = 3 upload 24 to the two facets: x = 27

3y/4 -6 =y/8 +4

3y/4 -y/8 = 4+6

6y -y/8 = 10

5y/8 = 10

5y = 80

y = 80/5
y = 16

3y/4 - y/8 = 6 + 4
(2*3y - y)/8 = 10
5y=80
==> y = 16

First equal all y's:

3y/4 = 3/4y = 6/8y
y/8 = 1/8y

6/8y - 6 = 1/8y + 4
6/8y - 1/8y = 4+6
5/8y = 10
y = 10/(5/8)
y = 16

Checkup:
16/4 - 6 = 16/8 - 4
4-6 = 2-4
It works out! oh joy!
