how would you go about solving this....

add together:
1/x + 2x

1. Find Common Denominator

The common denominator is x..

the first term (1/x) has an x in the denominator..so you can just leave it alone

The second term (2x) is missing an x in the denominator..so you have to multiply it by x

1/x + 2x = (2x^2 + 1)/ x

= (2x² + 1)/x

Answer: (2x² + 1)/x
