4/x means 4 divided by x
x/4 means x divided by 4

Example 1
(4/x) + 3 = 3
4 / x = 0
x = ∞

Example 2
(x/4) + 3 = 3
x/4 = 0
x = 0

x = either positive or negative infinity. that way, 4/x = 0, and you get 0 + 3 = 3.

(4/x) + 3 = 3
4/x = 0

This obviously cannot be evaluated with algebra, but with limits. If you are not in Calculus, do not bother reading on.

In order for the expression to be remotely equal zero, x must be an enormous number. This equation will never be true, despite how large x becomes. Thus, x is positive or negative infinity.

3/4 | x+3 | - 7 = 3 3/4 | x+3 | = 10 | x+3 | = 40/3 means either -(x+3) = 40/3, x+3=-40/3, x=-49/3; or, (x+3) = 40/3, x+3=40/3, x=-9/3+40/3= 31/3. Check: x=-49/3, | -49/3+3 | =| -49/3+9/3 | = |-40/3| =40/3. x= 31/3, | 31/3+3 | =| 31/3+9/3 | = |40/3| =40/3. x=-49/3, 31/3.

4/x + 3 = 3
4/x = 3 - 3
4/x = 0

4/x+3=3
=> 4/x=0
=> 4=0

this question has no answer since 4=0.

hi,
multiply the equation by x.
therefore:
[(4/x)+3]x = 3(x)
4+3x = 3x
3x-3x = 4
0 = 4.
NO SOLUTION SET.
And giving you an undefined answer.
2008-03-07 7:28 am
the answer is undefined. 4 cannot equal 0 which is what you would get if you solve.
2008-03-07 8:21 am
(4/x) + 3 = 3
4/x = 3 - 3 = 0
4 = x * 0 = 0
4 can not be "0", so 'x' should be "zero"
==============================
2008-03-07 7:29 am
(4/x) + 3 = 3
4/x = 0

Hmmmm... I think the answer is "no solution." Because you can't divide any number by anything and get zero.
