i am afraid that the electric company will say that it is your responsability as it was done by vandals i think that you can buy a new door from big d.i.y. shops like b&q

get a cam outside an point it at the box you can pick one up for about £16 b/w and it plugs straight in to your video/DVD recorder so you can record it then you will know who it is the cams are small so that they wont see it you can get them on eBay to

I like Bashers idea but I wouldn't show the police the tape until I'd added a little mental and physical duress on the scoundrels. Nice way of saying beat the begeezes out of them. RScott

I would put a sign on the box that says:
"You are at the wrong house. I have no idea who you are but I will shoot your head off if you try to enter my home. Stop tampering with this box immediately."
I think this may be someone who is angry at someone else - otherwise they would not keep turning the power off. They think they are getting revenge for some imagined insult. I would also get a large dog from a friend and have that in the house at night.
A long time ago in Detroit, one of my father's co-workers complained that when she was in her apartment at night, someone kept trying to break into her place - they would keep fiddling with the knob. My dad loaned her a shotgun and just taught her how to "rack" it so it was ready to fire. This makes a VERY distinctive noise with a shotgun. So the next time they were outside, she went up close to the door and racked the gun and the person outside ran like mad. She never had that problem there again.

I'd dearly love to wire the box to the mains and stop the little gits - however as that isn't legal or wise, how about contacting the electric company, explaining the problem and seeing if they can supply a more secure box.

Watch for who it is around the time it normally happens and then call the police on them when they turn up.

Or (but this is maybe a bit more far fetched), rig up a video camera somewhere near by to catch them out, like a kind of cctv.

lock the electric box

Call the electric company- probably the box outside belongs to them and is their responsibility. Possibly also a previous tenant didnt pay their bill and the company have asked for the electric to be turned off- without realising the other ppl have moved away. In this case the electric company will know about it.

GET A BATTERY POWERED ALARM WITH A LIMIT SWITCH ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR, AS SOON AS THE DOOR IS OPENED THE BUZZER SOUNDS,OR LINK A BUZZER IN THE HOUSE NOT OUTSIDE AND CATCH THEM AT IT.

Ask the electric company if you can get the box moved into your house. If it's a council house, you may have problems, but it's worth a try. Good luck.

Put a padlock on it for their safety, even though they are tampering with YOUR property, they could later sue you for negligence if their children get hurt.

I would also install a motion detector security light above (Out of reach) to discourage them. You might be able to see the light before they can open the box. Keep it out of reach so they can't un-screw the light bulb. (Defeat those little f-er's)

Yeah I agree with "Awake". Or you could also ask your ESB supply board can you have it inside your house! Tell them about the trouble too! Or if you had some kind of Video Camera for surveillance (there not that expensive) you can find out who's doing it and get a stop put to it once and for all! I'm sure your fed up! Best of luck..

call your electric company and even if it is one of your own children have someone also officially tell them why this is wrong illegal and dangerous and if not your children then you need to report it before someone gets hurt your electric company may have some advice and ideas on how to make this in accessible it would depend on the size of the child doing this

put a padlock on it for now

If it is fairly modern, there should be a place to put a lock on it. Even if it is a regular pad lock. There should be a key hole in the door,( you would have to go to an electrical supply house for a new key), or a small ring protruding through the door that you can put a pad lock through.

Are they your children?

Make the electricity box live, they won't do it again..

Seriously call the police.
