After LEOs graduate, they no longer are required to undergo physical endurance testing. Most departments assume LEOs will take the time to exercise and stay in shape on their off-duty time. The obese LEOs you see had been out of the academy at least over a year now. Some of them will undergo personal problems with their marriage, which will lead to depression, and overeating.
