I heard of a story in the ladies jail, of two inmated women being woken up early in the morning to get their blood taken into a vile for some reason unknown and when they asked about it nobody would give them a reason of why their blood was drawn. I hate the show cops by the way

By some chance, did this happen on the show Cops? Well, you have take into consideration, that the jail/prison administration ISN'T going to compromise their security/work environment. Now, as far as I'm aware of here in Los Angeles, CA, I forgot the Prop. number, but it was passed by the voters to collect blood and other secretions from the prisoners who have been convicted of certain felony offenses, to be stored in the national database for future references or crimes.

However, there's only been maybe 1 or 2 stories that I'm aware of that this DNA collection, has also helped free some prisoners, from CA Dept. of Corrections & Rehabilitation, who were serving time for crimes that they NEVER COMMITTED!!! But yet, they got convicted because of eyewitness testimony, cops' behaviors, and other miscarriages of justice. And they kept proclaiming their innocence.

If this DNA collection is used for other purposes, I have yet to be informed of this, right along with the public. And then, on the flip side, yes this sampling has also put closure on quite a few cold cases, where the inmates was serving time for other offenses and they got charged with the new crimes, that technology didn't exist when these crimes was committed. Either way, I think it's an excellent tool, if it can do all that I just wrote about.
