I would like to know the difference between bonus issue and rights issue.

Bonus issue means bonus shares are being issued to the existing shareholders on the same proportion of shares held. No subscription money is required from the shareholders. However, the number of shares held by each is increased e.g. 1 for 10 means a shareholder will get 1 more share for each of the 10 shares held by him. So, he will be holding 11 shares thereafter.
Rights issue is the rights given to existing shareholders to apply and subscribe for additional shares at a issue price to be determined by the company.
