1.Natural magnesium exists in three isotopic forms, ^24Mg, ^25Mg and
^26Mg, with relative abundance of 78.6%, 10.1% and 11.3% respectively.
Calculate the relative atomic mass of magnesium.

Approximately:
Relative mass of Mg-24 = 24
Relative mass of Mg-25 = 25
Relative mass of Mg-26 = 26

Averagely, in 100 Mg atoms:
No. of Mg-24 atoms = 78.6
No. of Mg-25 atoms = 10.1
No. of Mg-26 atoms = 11.3

Relative mass of Mg
= Weighted average of the relative mass of Mg
= (Total relative mass of 100 Mg atoms) / 100
= (24 x 78.6 + 25 x 10.1 + 26 x 11.3) / 100
= 24.3

24*78.6%+25*10.1%+26*11.3%
=24.327

所以
relative atomic mass of magnesium is 24.327
其實
這是 = 計平均數
