since you have common denominators just add the numerators and make into a mixed numeral

13+17=30
30/18 = 1 12/18 or 1 2/3

5/3

30/18=1 +12/18= 1+2/3

13/18 + 17/18
= (13 + 17)/18
= 30/18
= 5/3

Answer: 30/18, or simplified is 5/3

How To Solve:
1. Add the numerators together. The numerators are the ones on top, so the 13 and 17. So you will get: 30
2. When adding, it is important you have a common denominator. You do not need to do anything in this problem, as both denominators are 18. So you will have: 30/18
3. This is your answer, but you can still simplify. So after simplifying, you will have: 5/3

I hope I helped!! :)
