x over a + y over b =1 is just a form of equation . To find the slope of this equation , we have to re-arrange the term in order to make y in terms of x
y=-bx/a+b
(-b/a)(m)=-1
m=a/b
If 4x +1 = x2+y = 3x - 2 then y = ?
{y=-x2+4x+1-------1
{y=-x2+3x-2-----------2

4x+1=3x-2
x=-3
