What is it this thing I hear about listening to tamagotchis heartbeat? Is it true? How come I can't hear it?

On this website, it says if you put your ear to your tamagotchi, you can hear its heartbeat. I tried, but I hear nothing. Is this true?

This "heartbeat" is really just the clock ticking. I'm not sure if all versions have it, but it's nothing special.
