the anser is 16.....
rule is BODMAS (bracket of division multiplication addition subtraction)
so accrdng 2 d rule.... u have 2 divide first... den multiply.. den add and subtract....
so anser is
4+3*4
4+12
16

It depends on if you mean:

4 + (6/2) * 4, or
4 + 6 / (2*4)

You'll get different answers.

First one:

4 + (6/2) * 4
4 + 3 * 4
4 + 12
16

Second one:

4 + 6 / (2*4)
4 + 6/8
4 + 3/4
4.75

Since that's not an option, it's likely c)16.

Order of operations has you do all multiplying and dividing first before adding and subtracting.

4 + 6 / 2 x 4
= 4 + 3 x 4
= 4 + 12
= 16

lol THE ANSWER IS 16. because you have to follow PEMDAS which is the order of operations you must follow to get the right answer

Perenthesis first, then
Exponents
Multiplication/Division
Addition/Subtractions

multiplication and division doesn't matter which one you do first
same with addition and subtraction
but you MUST go from left to right. for example 2*4/5 .. you do multiplication first.. same with if it was 2/4*5 you do division first

so you can't go 4+6 is 10 and 2*4 is 8 and then say 10/8 because ITS WRONG.

you have to go 6/2 because it comes first so the answer is 3. then times that by 4 and you get 12, then add that to 4 and you get 16.

hope this helps

Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally
Parenthesis Exponents Multiplication/Division Addition/Subtraction

4 + 6/2 * 4
Multiplication/Division
4 + 3 * 4
4 + 12
Addition/Subtraction
16

Note that 6/2 * 4 IS NOT the same as 6/(2*4). However, 6/2 * 4 IS the same as (6 * 4)/2

Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally
Parenthesis, Exponets, Multiplication/Division, Additon/Subtraction:::

4 + 6 / 2 * 4
since order doesn't matter between mult and divi you do whichever one comes first in the sequence. so, 6 / 2 = 3 and 3 * 4 = 12.
then addition/subtraction comes.. 4 + 12 = 16.

u follow the order of operations from left to right so u divide first, then multiply: 6/2 is 3, that *4=12. so now u have 4+12=16. answer is c

One of the previous commentors was wrong. In the order of operations we follow this order:
Paranthesis
Exponents
Multiplication and division (left to right)
Addition and subtraction (left to right)

4 + 6 / 2 *4
First we calculate 6/2

4+ 3*4
now we perform 3*4

4+ 12

Finally, the addition calculation

16

C is the correct answer.
2008-02-25 8:03 am
4 + 6 / 2 *4
= 4 + 3*4
= 4 + 12
= 16

c.
2008-02-25 8:34 am
4 + 6/2 * 4
Multiplication/Division
4 + 3 * 4
4 + 12
Addition/Subtraction
16

Note that 6/2 * 4 IS NOT the same as 6/(2*4). However, 6/2 * 4 IS the same as (6 * 4)/2

there for the answer is c). 16
