日蝕和月蝕(英文)急!!

日食（Solar eclipse），又作日蝕，是一種天文現象，只在月球運行至太陽與地球之間時發生。這時，對地球上的部分地區來說，月球位於太陽前方，因此來自太陽的部分或全部光線被擋住，因此看起來好像是太陽的一部分或全部消失了。日食只在朔，即月相呈現新月、月球與地球呈現下合狀態時發生。
日食是相當罕見的現象，在四種日食中最罕見的是日全食，因為唯有在月球的本影投影在地球表面時，在該區域的人才能夠觀測到日食。日全食是一種相當壯麗的自然景象，所以時常吸引許多遊客特地到海外去觀賞日全食的景象。例如，在1999年發生在歐洲的日全食，吸引了非常多觀光客特地前去觀賞，也有旅行社推出專門為這些遊客設計的行程。
古時，人類缺乏天文學知識，以為日食是肇因於天狗食日，或象徵災難的降臨，而在日食時舉行儀式。但在現代社會中，日食的這層意義已逐漸為人們所揚棄。
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring Earth's view of the Sun. This configuration can only occur during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth. In ancient times, and in some cultures today, solar eclipses are attributed to mythical properties. Total solar eclipses can be frightening events for people unaware of their astronomical nature, as the Sun suddenly disappears in the middle of the day and the sky darkens in a matter of minutes. However, the spiritual attribution of solar eclipses is now largely disregarded.
Total solar eclipses are very rare events for any given place on Earth because totality is only seen where the Moon's umbra touches the Earth's surface. A total solar eclipse is a spectacular natural phenomenon and many people consider travel to remote locations in order to observe one. The 1999 total eclipse in Europe, possibly the most-watched eclipse in human history, helped to increase public awareness of the phenomenon. This was illustrated by the number of people willing to make the trip to witness the 2005 annular eclipse and the 2006 total eclipse. The next solar eclipse will occur on August 1, 2008, and will be total.


月 食 是 自 然 界 的 一 種 現 象 ， 當 太 陽 、 地 球 、 月 球 三 者 恰 好 或 幾 乎 在 同 一 條 直 線 上 （地 球 在 太 陽 和 月 球 之 間） ， 太 陽 照 射 到 月 球 的 光 線 便 會 部 份 或 完 全 地 被 地 球 掩 蓋 ，產 生 月 食 。
月 食 的 時 候 ， 以 地 球 來 說 ， 太 陽 和 月 球 的 方 向 相 差 為 1 8 0 ° ， 所 以 月 食 必 定 發 生 在 「望」（即 農 曆 十 五 日 前 後）。要 注 意 的 是 ， 由 於 太 陽 和 月 球 在 天 空 的 軌 道 （稱 為 黃 道 和 白 道） 並 不 在 同 一 個 平 面 上 ， 而 是 有 約 5 度 的 交 角 ， 所 以 只 有 太 陽 和 月 球 分 別 位 於 黃 道 和 白 道 的 兩 個 交 點 附 近 ， 才 有 機 會 連 成 一 條 直 線 ， 產 生 月 食 。
月 食 可 分 為 月 偏 食 、 月 全 食 及 半 影 月 食 三 種 。 當 月 球 只 有 部 份 進 入 地 球 的 本 影 時 ， 便 會 出 現 月 偏 食 ； 而 當 整 個 月 球 進 入 地 球 的 本 影 內 時 ， 便 會 出 現 月 全 食 ； 至 於 半 影 月 食 ， 是 指 月 球 只 是 掠 過 地 球 的 半 影 區 ， 造 成 月 面 的 光 度 極 輕 微 減 弱 ， 很 難 用 肉 眼 發 覺 有 甚 麼 分 別 ， 因 此 不 為 人 所 注 意 。
由 於 地 球 的 本 影 比 月 球 大 得 多 ， 因 此 在 月 全 食 時 ， 月 球 會 完 全 進 入 地 球 的 本 影 區 內 ， 絕 不 會 出 現 月 環 食 這 種 現 象 。

A lunar eclipse occurs whenever the moon passes through some portion of the Earth’s shadow. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, the Moon is always full the night of a lunar eclipse. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital nodes.
