you divide them by a 100 %
1.05 % = 1.05%/100 % = 0.0105

1.05%
= 1.05/100
= 1.05 ÷ 100
= 0.0105
------------------
e.g. 1)
25%
= 25/100
= 25 ÷ 100
= 0.25

e.g. 2)
142%
= 142/100
= 142 ÷ 100
= 1.42

e.g. 3)
1/3%
= 1/3/100
= 1/(3 x 100)
= 1/300
= 1 ÷ 300
= 0.0033333333......
≈ 0.003

e.g. 4)
1 2/3 %
= (1 2/3)/100
= 5/3/100
= 5/(3 x 100)
= 5/300
= 1/60
= 1 ÷ 60
= 0.166666666......
≈ 0.17

e.g. 5)
5/4 %
= 5/4/100
= 5/(4 x 100)
= 5/400
= 1/80
= 1 ÷ 80
= 0.0125

e.g. 6)
0.35%
= 0.35/100
= 0.35 ÷ 100
= 0.0035

What are you looking to get your percentage of? This would end up going into the class for the specified method. public double percent(double num1, double num2){ double sum = num1 + num2; double percentage = 0; // Add code here to get percentage of whatever it is you need. return percentage; }

Just remember that % = 1/100. So whenever you have x% what you actually have is x/100.

1.05% would be 0.0105
if it was 98% it would be 0.98 therfore move the decimal place (behind the 8) two spots to the left. same with 1.05%... move the decimal two spots to the left.
