RSVP in an invitation

I received an invitation and at the bottom appeared RSVP by some date. I know it means to reply them, but if I am not going, do I still need to reply?

RSVP means please reply.As a matter of courtesy, I think you have to reply even if you are not going.

No, you don't need to reply them if you're not going.
When you see RSVP, that means they will only reserve your spot when you respond.
p.s. RSVP = Répondez s'il vous plaît
means Please respond in French
