A rational number is a number that can be put in the form p / q where p and q are integers.
Example are:-

A rational number is any number that can be expressed as the product of division between two integers.
Example: 0.3333...=1/3, 5.45=545/100 and so on are rational numbers.
Numbers like pi, e, square root of 2 and so on are irrational numbers.
BTW: pi isn't a rational number, but 22/7 is the rational approximation of pi.
