x+y=20.....2
from 2)
y=20-x.....3
put(3)in(1)
2x+3(20-x)=46
2x+60-3x=46
x=14
therefore,the number of oranges bought is 14

2y + 3(20-y) = 46
2y + 60 -3y = 46
-y = -14
y = 14
2y + 3(20-y) = 46
