(a)Let Amy and Bob get $7x and $4x originally
If Amy gives $600 to Bob, the new ratio is 5 : 6.
7x-600 : 4x+600=5 : 6
7x-600 / 4x+600=5 / 6
5(4x+600)=6(7x-600)
20x+3000=42x-3600
22x=6600
x=300
Therefore, Amy gets $2100 and Bob gets $1200 originally
(b)
the sum of money
=Amy gets originally + Bob gets originally
=4x+7x
=11x
=3300
