3. In a computer game,Edward gets 1300points less than two times William 's score.if they get a total score of 6500points ,who has got a higher score?By how many points?
Let the score of Edward be x points, then the score of William be (6500-x) points
Edward gets 1300points less than two times William 's score
x=2(6500-x)-1300
x=13000-2x-1300
3x=11700
x=3900
Therefore ,
the score of Edward be 3900 points and
then the score of William be (6500-3900)=2600 points
Thus,Edward has got a higher score by (3900-2600)=1300 points

4.Johnny pays $105for 3books and 6 packs of tissue paper.If the price of each book is 12 times that of a pack of tissue paper,find the price of

a)a pack of tissue paper
Let the price of a pack of tissue paper be x ,
then the price of each book be 12x
3(12x)+6x=105
42x=105
x=2.5
Therefore , the price of a pack of tissue paper is $2.5 and
the price of each book is $30
b)the price of 4 books and 2 packs of tissue paper
=4(30)+2(2.5)
=$125

3.Let y be the point Edward gets.
2y+1300+y=6500
3y=5200
y=1400
Therefore Edward gets 1400 points and William gets 6500-1400=5100 points,William gets a higher score.
4.Let a be the price of tissue paper.
3(12a)+6a=105
54a=105
a=105/54
The price of pack of tissue paper is $105/54.
The total price for 4 bks and 2 tissues
=(105/54)*2+(12*105/54)*4
=97.2
