(a) The weight of a metal rod is measured to be 350 g, correct to 2 significant figures. Find the percentage error of the weight correct to the nearest 0.1%.
maximun absolute error =(1/2)(10)=5 g
the percentage error of the weight
=(maximun absolute error /The measured weight)*100%
=(5/350)*100%
=1.4%

(b) The length of the metal rod is measured to be 98 mm, correct to 2 significant figures. Find the percentage error of the length correct to the nearest 0.1%.

maximun absolute error =(1/2)(1)=0.5 mm
the percentage error of the weight
=(maximun absolute error /The measured weight)*100%
=(0.5/98)*100%
=0.5%
