What you need to do is use the order of operations. I learned it in the acyronoym "Please excuse my dear aunt sally". The P means parathenesses. The E is meant for the exponents. The M and D should be done left to right and mean multiply and divide. Finally the S and A should also be read from left to right. They mean to add and subtract.
What you need to do is put the -2 in for r.
The problem will look like
6*(-2*-2)+7
Nextly solve for r squared
The problem should now look like
6*(4)+7
Then multiply the 6 and the 4 due to the order of operations.
24+7
Finally add the two remaining numbers together and the final anwser should be 31.

you have to put the -2 into the expression wherever you see an r, so:
6(-2)^2-9(-2)+7 =
6(4) -(-18) +7
24+18+7
