Math: Given the perimeter of a room, how many 30x30 tiles will fit?

This question was on my little brother's math test, and he got his answer wrong. I don't think I know how to solve but my answer seems outrageously wrong.
Question: The room has a perimeter of 72m
The width is 9m
The length is 27m.
How many 30cmx30cm tiles can cover this room?

Thank you for any help. Please post your answer. My answer was 27 tiles >.<
更新1:

Yes, I got 810 too on my first try, but why would we divide the area by the side of the tile? That doesn't make sense. I think the answer is 2700.

✔ 最佳答案
= ([9 m * 27 m)/([30 cm/100] * [30 cm/100])
= (9 m * 27 cm)/(0.3 m * 0.3 m)
= 243 sq m/0.09 sq cm
= 2,700 tiles

OR:
= ([9 m * 100][27 m * 100])/(30 cm * 30 cm)
= (900 cm * 2,700 cm)/900 sq cm
= 2,430,000 sq cm/900 sq cm
= 2,700 tiles

Answer: either way it's 2,700 tiles; you omitted the two trailing zeros after 27.

A quick way to think about this, is... a centimeter is one hundredth of a meter, if you know that the area of the room is 243 m^2 (9*27) how many of these 30*30 tiles will fit. this means that the tiles area is .9 m. Therefore dividing the entire area of the room by this area will give you the correct answer. You were on the right track, but you left off a zero. It looks like you gave them a tenth of a meter. try 243/.9, if I understand this properly that will give you the correct answer.

I may be wrong in this, its been a while since Algebra and metrics. double check before you submit this. good luck

900 cm divided by 30 cm = 30
2700 cm divided by 30 cm = 90

30 x 90 = 2700 tiles.

I got 2700 tiles.
First you convert 9m and 27m to centimeters.
So you get 900m and 2700m.
Then you find the area of the room by multiplying them together.
After that, divide it by (30*30), which is the area of one tile
Then you should get 2700.

9m by 27m
You can place 30 of 30cmx30cm tiles across the width. (9 / 0.3 = 30)
You can place 90 of 30cmx30cm tiles across the length. (27 / 0.3 = 90)
Therefore 30 * 90 = 2700 tiles of 30cm by 30cm.

Convert m to cm, 1 m = 100 cm
9x100=900
27x100=2700
2700x900=2430000
a tile is 30cmx30cm=900cm

243000/900=2700tiles

the room is 27m by 9m
27 * 9 = 243
so the room is 243 square meters
243 square meters = 24,300 square centimeters

so to figure out how many 30cm by 30cm tiles you need, you need to divide 24,300 by 30
which equals 810

so the answer is:
810 tiles

Convert M to centimeters.

Area = 900 x 2700

area of tile = 30 x 30

Area/ area of tile = number of tiles

= 2430000/900 = 2700

Therefore 2700 tiles will fit.

Sorry Hun but I'm very bad with math.
