Johnny Depp is an American from south (Kentucky), if you read or seen any Civil-war movies, you'll find this Southern American accent is pretty unique, that's what he's using.

First, he is an American actor.
second, that was an interview so he is just speaking like how he talks in normal life.
by the way, the movie they were interviewing is the pirate of the carribean, he talks in british accent in that movie.

American accent is better for younger generation. British accent is more formal and traditional. American accent is more easy going. and also easier for Asian people to learn.
