why oxygen 在periodic table入面的symbol 是「O」, 但平時我地講oxygen 的時候,會是講「O2」呢??

O是氧。
而我們所說的O2是氧氣。
兩者是不同的,
前者的O不是空氣中的氧氣,只是一種元素。
而O2 是一個較穩定東西,
而且是呼吸作用中一個很重要的氣體。
因為O是不穩定的,所以在大自然中我們都不會找到O,
只會找到O2。
除此之外,例如H , N , F , Cl , Br , I ,
都是兩粒一起存在於世上的。

In the Periodic Table, the symbol of oxygen is "O". Usually, the symbol "O" represents an atom of oxygen.

O2 is the chemical formula of oxygen molecule or oxygen gas (since oxygen gas contains a huge number of oxygen molecules). Oxygen molecule are diatomic. In other words, each oxygen molecule contains 2 oxygen atoms. The diagram of an oxygen molecule is shown in the following link:

Since each oxygen molecule contains two oxygen atoms, the formula of an oxygen molecule O2. The subscribe “2” represents the number of atoms in the molecule.
