gerund

動詞後面用gerund或infinitive都是沒有得解釋的，這都是英文的慣用，想知道那個動詞用gerund或to-infinitive，那就得查字典。而有些字則可以用gerund或to-infinitive都可以，意思有時一樣，但有些字卻不同。
如：like後面可以用to-infinitive和gerund都可以，但like+ing主要用來談及享受某活動，如：I like swimming。（就是喜歡游泳這種活動）。而like+動詞不定式，主要去用來說明選擇性／或習慣；如：when I'm pouring tea, I like to put the milk first.(就是一種選擇）。
至於would like之後，我們就常用動詞不定式，如：
I'd like to tell you something.（不能說：I'd like telling you something)
試比較：Do you like dancing?（是問喜歡跳舞這活動嗎？）
　　　　Would you like to dance?(=Do you want to dance now?)（你想跳舞？：要問及你的選擇）

至於see, hear, watch等感觀性動詞，也可以同時用gerund或動詞不定式。用-ing形式時，表示注意到事情或行動已在進行；跟不定式用時，是表示看到或聽到事情／行動的全過程。（注：但這些感觀性的動詞，後面要用原形動詞（不帶to））
如：I looked out of the window and saw Mary crossing the road.（我往窗外看去，看見瑪麗正橫過街道）
　　I saw Mary step off the pavement, cross the road and disappear into the post office.（我看見瑪麗走下人行道，穿過大街，消失在郵局裏）

呢D係要背(背邊D verb用to Infinitives，邊D用gerund)
有D verb 2樣都用得，
like之後個verb用to， see同hear就係後面個verb +ing
