no local area connection/dead HD?

hi all. i have a desktop that got infected with a virus. on an unsuccessful attempt to take the hard drive out and try to retrieve all the info, i put the hard drive back in and reformatted it. everything looked fine except there is no local area connection. does it mean the network card is loose (possibly unplugged something when i put the HD back in?) or does it mean my hard drive is dead?
thanks!

first of all did you reinstall windows onto the hd and secondly, did you install the drivers for the network card,

if you did the above then your right its probably a loose cable in the network card, just check round the back of the pc, then go to system/hardware tab to see if its picking up your card, which it will probably. hope that helps later dude
