Guilin is located in Guangxi Province in western part of China. This part of the country shares border with Vietnam, featuring a distinctive Karst landscape, with many picturisque limestone hills by the rivers.
The Li River lies across the town of Guilin, and is flanked by several limestone hills such as the Diecai Hill, and Duxiu Hill. An iconic feature standing on the side on the river is the Elephant Hill, where the force of water has bored a huge round hole through it, giving it the shape of an elephant with a trunk.
