When adding fractions, you need to find the lowest common denominator and then do what you did to each denominator (to get the LCD) to the top of the fraction. i.e. 1/2 + 1/5 well the lowest common denominator is 10 to get the 2 to 10 you need to times it by 5, so you do the same to the top and to get 5 to 10 you need times it by 2, so you do the same to the top. 5/10 + 2/10 which equals 7/10 THIS RULE IS TO BE USED WITH SUBTRACTION ALSO To times fractions you just simply time the top of the fraction by the top of the other fraction and do the same for the bottom. i.e. 1/2 * 1/5 = 1/10 To divide fractions you need to change the equation into a times, you do this by changing the second fraction. You need to switch the bottom part of the fraction with the top (only on the second one), then you times them together. i.e. 1/2 / 1/5 1/2 * 5/1 = 5/2 or 2 1/2 I hope this helped.

5/8 x 15/1
= 5x15 / 8x1
= 75/8
= 9 3/8

You would have to do this multiply(x) 15 times 5 and u get 75. Then You would have 8 times 1 is 8.

So your answer is 75/8

and the lowest terms is 9 3/8

The general rule is
(a/b) * (c/d) = (a*c) / (b*d)

So here we have
(5*15) / (8*1) = 75/8

Okay so first you'll do 5 x 15 and thats the top part of the fraction.
Then you'll do 8 times 1 and that will be the bottem part of the fraction.

Multiply the numerators (5*15) then the denominators(8*1). That is your answer. Of course, you need to simplify, see if you can evenly divide a number into both the numerator and the denominator.

multiply the tops, multiply the bottoms.

(5*15)/(8*1) = 75/8

Multiply the tops together. That becomes the new top. Multiply the bottoms together. That becomes the new bottom.

5 * 15 = 75
8 * 1 = 8

Answer is 75/8
