Do a conversion-by-cancellation exercise.

(1.7 mL)(1 L/1000 mL) = .0017 L

Notice how the mL unit cancels out by being in the numerator in the first set of parentheses and in the denominator in the second set? That leaves only the L unit.

This is a very useful skill to know for converting units from one form to another. I suggest you practice it.

1 liter = 1000 milliliters
1 milliliter = 1/1000 liter
1.7 milliliters = 1.7/1000 liter

Mililiters is 3 rank below liter, so it is divided by 1000

1.7 mL = ........L
1.7 mL = 1.7 x 10^-3 L
1.7 mL = 0.0017 L

Yay! We found the answer! ^_^

There are 1000 milliliters in 1 litre so your would divide 1.7 by 1000.

The formula is as follows:

(1.7 ml)*(1l / 1000ml)= 0.0017 litres

Move the decimal over... I believe three xs to the left.

So it'd be .0017 liters in 1.7 milliliters - I think.
