I've come to realize that they don't always have to have a four course meal (dinner or breakfast). My mom, (old school) used to make us a hot breakfast every morning, (stay at home) and when I have my kids cereal, toast, fruit, she thinks I'm the worse parent walking!
I've come to the conclusion that as long as they are not hungry, and not malnourished, they can pretty much have whatever you give them within reason.
I'm not big on dough nuts and juice for breakfast. However, a bowl of granola with raisins, walnuts and added dried fruit is a great breakfast, especially when both parent work.
I struggled and still do some days with "what's for dinner" but now, I take it easy and just make it as creative as possible with what's in the cabinets. One rule of mines is always add a vegetable.
Mac -n cheese-is a meal by itself.
turkey and cheese or ham and cheese sandwiches with fruit
rice and mixed vegetables
soup and grilled cheese
there are 10 million recipes for chicken
I've found that ground turkey is good quick and easy
salad
pot pies.......
Honestly, if you watch the Food Network, Rachel Ray has a lot of great ideas. I don't think it's 30 minutes or less, but well worth watching.
