toddler and not getting the dog?

Do not over load yourself. We have a dog that is now 4 and we got her right before I found out I was pregnant with our first child.
Raising a puppy is really hard, If you are doing right. Not ignoring the dog and Training it to be a good dog for your children.
If your 9 year old can understand their roll in getting a puppy and what you will expect their responsibility to be then go for it. But if you are doing it all I would say wait a year until the 2 year old is able to understand more too.

you don't need a dog just buy you daughter another fish and let her name it and tell her it's hers she would be happy cause she got chuck e cheese and a fish she will not want a dog anymore

Good Decision! If you already have other pets then that is enough. Pups are sweet but when they get older can be a lot of work. I am sure your daughter will get over it...in time. Perhaps she is fond of the cats...dogs don't always mix! Good Luck.

Well let me tell ya, I have a 17mo old, and a 3yr old cocker spaniel...our dog is REALLY good with our daughter, but we've had the dog since she was 9weeks old, so we had her about 2yrs before but man oh man there's no way I'd get a new puppy now! It's almost like I have a 2nd child sometimes. It can be a handful, but Im glad our daughter has a doggie...

I dont know, but I think you should not have any pet any more because you have almost five, if you want a dog it will be six and animals are dirty and bring diseases think about this point with you I cant decided with you that is your choice
