條問題係mr chan's salary is increased by 15% to become $10350. what was his salary before the increase?我知個答案係$9000但係唔知條算式係咩

=10350 / 1+15%
=10350 / 115%
=10350 / 1.15
=$9000

Also you can use equation to do this sum but the easiest way is like this.
And it is 除 not X is because it is talking about $10350 is after the increasing.
Not the original. So it is the opposite and it is 除

let $x be mr chan's salary before the increase
x(1+15%)=10350
x(1+0.15)=10350
1.15x=10350
x=9000
therefore, mr chan's salary before the increase is $9000
x(1+15%)=10350
x(1+0.15)=10350
1.15x=10350
